Happy Holidays!
Happy Holidays to everyone out there! We had a fantastic holiday here with two days off! Saturday night was the big town holiday party at the VMF (Vehicle Maintenance Facility) - see picture below - and Sunday night was our delicious dinner of lobster, duck, beef wellington, and a million other special treats!Sitting with Santa McMurdo-style: on a snowmobile in front of a painting of Ob Hill. That's my roommate Helen in the middle.

After Helen hopped down, I decided to sit and give Santa my Christmas Wish List: a Barbie doll, a dollhouse, and world peace. He didn't make any promises!

This photo shows one half of the party at the VMF. The other side (on the left) was dark because they showed a slide show of pictures people sent in. In this picture, you might see some different Christmas decorations. Every department is asked to make something large-scale and bring it to decorate.

This year some janitors made a MacLand game (similar to CandyLand, the board game), but on a very large scale! From the left, you see a Christmas tree (definitely not a real one), the Chalet (where the National Science Foundation is based out of), a steaming Mt. Erebus, the Chapel of the Snows, and on the far right the penguin game pieces. It was definitely the best decoration there!

Merry Christmas katie!
Merry Christmas Katie, funny thing, remember Tom?? well, he is in argentina on holiday with his fam, and they are in the very southern part of the country , and he went to Antarctica yesterday!!! it was the first time he's ever seen snow at Christmas, and it was there! thought that was funny. Glad that you had a nice holiday. Mine was nice as well with my sister here in holland. we went to de os and had hot chocolate and played scrabble, which was funny cause the dutch letters are worth different points and they have different amounts of certain letters. was fun though. bye bye
